Marika and Walker originally planned to have their wedding in Wisconsin on Walker’s family farm (side-note, this farm is just minutes away from the house where Ray grew up, and Ray was childhood friends with Walker’s older brothers!).
Then 2020 happened and everything hit a pause until Marika and Walker were like, “We live in Colorado, let’s just have it here! Any chance you want to come photograph our wedding in Colorado?” So we checked our schedules, said absolutely and planned a whole trip around it, bringing our kids out with us (and babysitters for the wedding day) and included some Rocky Mountain National Park time en route to the wedding in Fort Collins. We’re pretty sure there was a whole caravan happening from Viroqua because it was like a mini reunion once we were out there. A super happy covid change, in our opinion!
It was such a fun day that we felt spoiled to be a part of as photographers. Both sets of families are such kind, warmhearted people and it was truly an honor to see the gathering of them all. Ray hadn’t seen many of Walker’s siblings who now live all over the US since childhood and Walker mentioned this was the first time in a really, really long time where they were all able to be together. Weddings are pretty wonderful like that.
Enjoy!
