Brianna’s a writer, Luke’s a self-taught artist and musician, and when they first reached out they told us exactly what they wanted: handcrafted, not kitschy. Vintage whimsy that couldn’t be traced to any one era. Nothing that felt like it was trying too hard. The Dousman House gave them that without any extra effort: real history in the building itself, the river right there, and enough character that they didn’t need to add much on top of it.

Where is the Dousman House? It sits on an island in Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin, with Mississippi River views right from the property. It’s the only historic venue of its kind in town.
How many guests can it hold? Around 450 people indoors, with room to expand for larger events.
What’s included in the venue rental? Tables, chairs, china, glassware, bartenders, and waitstaff are all part of the package.
How does catering work? Catering runs through The Barn restaurant in Prairie du Chien, with per-person pricing based on how many meat options you choose, plus a potato, salad, and vegetable. An appetizer-only option is also available if you’d rather do a social hour than a sit-down dinner.
How do you book a date? A deposit and signed lease hold your date, and the deposit is refunded the week after the event.
