A Vineyard Barn Wedding at Over The Vines in Edgerton, Wisconsin – Ana + JP

Ana and JP’s wedding at Over The Vines in Edgerton was exactly the kind of day we love to be a part of. Some people just have a warmth about them that changes the whole energy of a day. Ana is one of those people — and JP clearly knew what he was doing.

5 Things We Loved About Ana + JP’s Wedding

– Ana is genuinely one of the warmest, most joyful people we have ever photographed. That’s not something we say often. It shows up in every single frame.

– Ana and JP wrote letters to each other and to their parents for the wedding day, and let us be there to photograph them being read. If you take one thing from this post, let it be this — write letters to your parents on your wedding day. Not a text, not a card. A real letter, read out loud, just the two of you together before the day begins. Wedding days are full of transition and that weight lands differently on parents than anyone else in the room. They’re watching someone they raised their whole life step into a completely new chapter, and most of the time there’s no real moment carved out to acknowledge that. A letter gives them that moment. It’s quiet and private and it belongs entirely to them. We have photographed a lot of weddings, and the frames from these moments are always among the most meaningful of the entire day — not because they’re dramatic, but because they’re completely real.

– Custom Wisconsin-themed cookies. The details that are specific to a couple always stand out, and these were a perfect touch.

Over The Vines is one of those venues that rewards you for paying attention. Billie and Ryan are the owners and they actually live on the property — which means the care they put into it is personal and constant. An 1888 barn with crystal chandeliers, a mature on-site vineyard, an old stone milk house, a 40-foot tree swing, and a bridal suite that feels genuinely thought through. The whole place sits 500 feet back from the road behind a gated entrance, so it has a privacy and stillness that most venues just don’t have. It’s about 30 minutes outside Madison and easy to get to from Milwaukee too — one of the best-kept secrets in southern Wisconsin for couples who want a vineyard barn wedding without driving hours to find one.

– We also made a stop motion video from Ana + JP’s day — go watch it here. It’s one of our favorites.
