There's absolutely no need to pose or perform here.
You can let your guard down -- to fully and completely enjoy your day because
(you might not know it yet, but) your story is already filled with SO MUCH beauty!
And we're experts at seeing it.
Madison has a way of making weddings feel alive. There's something about the light off Lake Monona at golden hour, the lush corridors at Olbrich Botanical Gardens, the energy of celebrating near Capitol Square — this city doesn't just host weddings, it elevates them. We've been there. We've watched couples steal quiet moments on the Terrace steps and share first dances in barns just outside the Dane County line. Every location we've shot in Madison has brought something different to the frame.
Ray + Kelly Photography is a husband-and-wife team, and we've been photographing weddings in and around Madison long enough to know what makes them tick. We're drawn to couples who want photographs that feel true — not over-posed or stiff, but real. The kind of images you pull up twenty years from now and immediately remember exactly how that day felt.
Our approach starts well before the wedding. We get to know you first — how you move, what makes you laugh, what you're nervous about. We use that to shape how we document your day, so nothing important slips past us and nothing feels forced in front of the camera.
Madison weddings carry a particular personality: creative, community-minded, and deeply personal. Whether you're celebrating with two hundred guests at a venue near the Capitol or exchanging vows quietly in a state park with your closest people, we work at the pace your day demands. We've shot across the Madison area — Middleton, Waunakee, Sun Prairie, Verona, Stoughton, Fitchburg — and each community has its own character. We show up ready for all of it.
If you want a Madison wedding photographer who'll be a calm, present creative partner from the getting-ready room through the last song — not a vendor racing through a shot list — you're in the right place.
Madison has become one of the places we photograph most — vineyard barns outside Edgerton, lakeside ceremonies near the isthmus, historic venues tucked into the surrounding countryside. If you're getting married in or around Madison and want photos that feel like your actual day instead of a performance of it, we'd love to talk.
Our couples know that they can trust us to document the people and moments that are most important to them while allowing themselves the freedom to be fully present.
Most of our work takes place in the areas around Madison but we photograph weddings all over the great state of Wisconsin and throughout the midwest. We would love to connect with you, wherever your wedding might take place!
We've worked across the Madison area and have a genuine feel for what each venue brings to a wedding day — the light, the timing, the quirks worth knowing. A few favorites:
Olbrich Botanical Gardens — lush, green, endlessly photogenic in any season
Monona Terrace — the lakefront setting produces stunning late-afternoon light
Olin Park — relaxed, natural, great for couples who want something low-key
Capitol Square area — urban texture and architectural detail that photograph beautifully
Barn and estate venues in Waunakee, Verona, and Sun Prairie — wide open skies and golden Wisconsin light
Don't see your venue here? Reach out anyway. We're happy to scout any location ahead of time.

Over The Vines in Edgerton is one of our favorite venues near Madison: an 1888 barn with a working vineyard, run by owners who live right on the property. Ana and JP's day there had crystal chandeliers, a stone milk house, and a 40-foot tree swing, all behind a gated entrance that gave the whole thing a quiet privacy. See Ana + JP's full wedding day →
Katelynn told us she knew our work was right for her the moment she saw it. She wanted a wedding day that felt candid, not curated, with room for the small, quiet moments most people forget. Aldo Leopold Nature Center gave us exactly that: wooded trails, soft natural light, and a setting that let the day unfold on its own. See Katelynn + Cory's full wedding day →
Kristen and Alex live in Seattle but wanted to get married near Madison, and Folklore Village turned out to be the perfect fit: live music, incredible food from Underground Food Collective, and one of the best golden hours we've ever caught on camera. It's the kind of wedding that reminds us why we love shooting in this part of the state. See Kristen + Alex's full wedding day →
